In this exhibition, the work of contemporary Portuguese poet António Ramos Rosa (1924-2013) is used as a living matter for the creation of new works by six intermedia and digital artists. Exploring dialogues and tensions between the natural and the artificial, these works also examine the potential of language in general and the Portuguese language in particular. As a whole, the works in Matéria Viva offer echoes, dialogues and interconnections with the poetry that precedes them and which is expanded into new matter. In this way, we are encouraged to rethink a reading of ecology and an ecology of reading in which the word is living matter.
